About MOTS-c

MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the 12S rRNA region of mitochondrial DNA. It is studied for its role in metabolic homeostasis, insulin sensitivity, and the cellular stress response in laboratory and pre-clinical models.

At 40 mg the limiting factor in a MOTS-c study is no longer the compound. Mitochondrial metabolic work tends to expand along two axes at once — more conditions and more timepoints per condition — and a full factorial panel across both consumes material quickly. This fill weight is sized so that a design of that shape can be planned as a single experiment on a single lot, with the Certificate of Analysis covering every datapoint in it, rather than being broken into blocks that each need their own purity figure reconciled at analysis.

Reconstitution & handling

MOTS-c is supplied as a lyophilised powder and reconstitutes readily in bacteriostatic or sterile water. At 40 mg the reconstituted volume is large enough that vial headroom needs checking before diluent is added — 8 mL for a 5 mg/mL stock. Where a design permits it, reconstituting to a higher concentration in a smaller volume and diluting out from there is the more practical route at this fill.

Stock concentrations available from a single 40 mg vial:

4 mL of diluent10 mg/mL stock

8 mL of diluent5 mg/mL stock
10 mL of diluent4 mg/mL stock

Storage & stability

Where the 40mg format fits

The three MOTS-c presentations differ only in fill weight. The 10 mg vial is a pilot format and the 20 mg vial covers a replicated single-condition panel. This 40 mg vial is for factorial designs — several conditions crossed with several timepoints — where the material requirement is the product of both axes rather than the sum. It also carries the lowest cost per milligram of the three.

The trade-off is commitment. A 40 mg fill is only economical if the design is settled, because the 28-day post-reconstitution window runs from when diluent is added and does not pause while a protocol is revised. For work that is still exploratory, the smaller fills waste less.

Quality & testing

Every batch supplied by Vital Research Labs is analysed by an independent third-party laboratory. Purity is confirmed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and identity by mass spectrometry (MS). This batch is verified at 99.391% purity, and a Certificate of Analysis is available for the batch so researchers can verify exactly what they are working with.

Shipping within Australia

MOTS-c is dispatched from within Australia to Australian research customers, packaged discreetly and appropriately for a lyophilised research compound. Orders are processed on receipt of payment via bank transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Is MOTS-c (40mg) available in Australia for research?

Yes. Vital Research Labs supplies research-grade MOTS-c (40mg) to Australian research customers, dispatched domestically. It is provided strictly for in-vitro laboratory research and is not for human or veterinary use.

What purity is your MOTS-c (40mg)?

This batch is verified at 99.558% purity by third-party analytical testing (HPLC for purity, mass spectrometry for identity). A Certificate of Analysis is available for the batch.

How is MOTS-c (40mg) tested?

Each batch is analysed by an independent third-party laboratory using HPLC to confirm purity and mass spectrometry to confirm identity. Batch-specific values are recorded on the Certificate of Analysis.

How should MOTS-c (40mg) be stored?

The lyophilised powder is stored at -20 degrees C, protected from light and moisture. Once reconstituted for research it is kept at 2-8 degrees C and typically used within 28 days.

Is MOTS-c (40mg) intended for human use?

No. MOTS-c (40mg) supplied by Vital Research Labs is intended strictly for in-vitro laboratory research and development. It is not a medicine or therapeutic good and is not for human consumption, veterinary use, or clinical application.

Where can I buy MOTS-c in Australia?

Vital Research Labs supplies MOTS-c from Australian stock, dispatched from New South Wales. Orders placed before the daily cut-off are dispatched the same business day, Monday to Friday, with tracked delivery Australia-wide including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are dispatched the same business day payment is confirmed, Monday to Friday. Weekend and public holiday orders are dispatched the next business day. Standard and express options are available, and express shipping is free on orders over $200. Every order is sent tracked.

Is packaging discreet?

Yes. All orders are packed in plain, unbranded outer packaging with no indication of the contents, and sent tracked via Australia Post or an equivalent carrier.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, all taken instantly at checkout. Bank transfer is also available if you prefer.

What stock concentrations can a 40mg MOTS-c vial be reconstituted to?

Reconstituting 40mg in 4mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/mL; 5mL gives 8mg/mL; 8mL gives 5mg/mL; and 10mL gives 4mg/mL. Check vial working volume before adding the larger volumes. These are in-vitro stock concentrations for laboratory dilution work only.

Who is the 40mg MOTS-c vial for?

Factorial designs, where several conditions are crossed with several timepoints and the material requirement is the product of both rather than the sum. It also has the lowest cost per milligram of the three MOTS-c fills, so it suits work on a settled protocol.

Is a larger MOTS-c vial always better value?

Only if the study can use it. The 28-day post-reconstitution window applies to the whole fill regardless of size, so material has to be aliquoted and frozen promptly. For exploratory work where the protocol may still change, the 10mg or 20mg fills waste less.
